Sixth Form celebrate academic excellence at EPQ showcase
Cowes Enterprise College, part of Ormiston Academies Trust, welcomed families and members of the local community to an inspiring Sixth Form showcase evening celebrating students’ Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) research.
During the event, A Level students delivered confident presentations and hosted interactive displays, sharing the findings of their independent research projects across an extraordinary range of topics. From Cleopatra and Formula 1 to masculinity, autism and artificial intelligence, the evening highlighted both the breadth of interests and the academic ambition of Cowes Sixth Form students.
The showcase gave visitors the opportunity to explore the depth and quality of work produced as part of the EPQ, which is a nationally recognised qualification designed to develop critical thinking, independent study and advanced research skills. Guests also had the chance to speak with student leaders and sixth form staff about courses, enrichment opportunities and life at Cowes Sixth Form.
The school’s Sixth Form student leadership team played a central role in the evening, warmly welcoming guests, answering questions and guiding visitors around the displays. Their involvement reflected the confidence, professionalism and leadership skills nurtured within the school community.
Rachel Kitley, Principal at Cowes Enterprise College, said:
“We are incredibly proud of our Sixth Form students for the confidence, passion and academic maturity they demonstrated during the Showcase Evening. The Extended Project Qualification gives students the freedom to explore subjects they are truly passionate about, while developing valuable research, presentation and independent learning skills that prepare them exceptionally well for university and future careers. It was fantastic to see so many families engaging with the impressive work on display and experiencing first-hand the ambition that defines our Sixth Form”.
